Washington School is changing our dress up days a little bit due to our field trip that is planned next week. Be sure to check out the themes so students can plan accordingly!

Washington students had a GREAT time during Math Day! Students played lots of different fun math games throughout the day. Our goal is to encourage our students to play and talk about math outside of the math classroom!
We finished our day with an entire school challenge to create a number line that started at 1 and went all the way to 250 followed by math games prizes. All of the students are coming home with their own math kit that has many of the materials that we used when learning our math games today so they can play at home with their family members.
Make sure to keep turning in those Math (and Reading) Logs each week! It is a great way for students to keep practicing and learning! Who thought math could be so fun?

Today Mrs. Farley and Mrs. Hogan's classes enjoyed our outdoor classroom as they worked together to plan for their STEM project related to volume! Students will be creating a Volume Zoo by using what they know about volume to create a 3-D animal of their choice. We can't wait to see what animals they create next week!

✈️Mrs. Hogan’s class participated in a paper airplane STEM challenge this morning. Emerson & Nora and Bryk & Cam both designed airplanes that traveled 285 inches! A fun and educational time was had by all. ✈️

This year at Washington School Mrs. Pickham is enjoying a weekly VIP lunch with students. Her goal is to meet with every student at some point throughout the year to chat and get to know each other better! This week's topics of discussion were Halloween costumes and favorite DQ treats!

Congratulations to our August Warriors of the Month! Back row l-r: Caleb Wilson, Olivia Jensen, Chardonnay Johnson, Lacey Payton. Front row l-r: JaNae McClain, Emma Ulitzsch, Rayleigh Ahlers, Felix Patino, Aiden Melvin, Hank McKinley, Ben Brown. Way to go Warriors!

A new school year means new happenings at Washington School. In an effort to encourage positive behavior and academic efforts, we have opened a school store where students can spend the Washington Bucks they earn for their reading logs, math logs, and great behavior at school. There was a lot of shopping the past couple days, and students are excited for the opportunity. Make sure you ask your student if they’ve been to the school store or ask if they’re saving up for something BIG. Thanks for assisting with their reading and math logs, so they have the opportunity to earn extra bucks. You’re awesome! I guess we know where your kids get it from 😉.

This year Washington school is hoping to inspire our students to share what they have learned with others! We are implementing weekly Reading Logs and Math Boards for students to complete at home so they can share their thinking, their learning and their growth with family members. Be looking for these to come home! When students return their completed sheets, they will earn Washington Bucks that can be used to purchase all kinds of different items at our School Store! The excitement is building, and the school store opens next week!! Students have been learning new math games this week that they can in turn play at home! Check out some of our awesome readers and math game players!

The 5th grade enjoyed touring the Junior High this week and hearing about the expectations for next year.

What do you get when you combine Mrs. Robey, Mrs. Cosgrove, Mrs. Wright, and Mrs. Vitzthum? If you said 100 years of dedicated service to the students of Pontiac District 429, you’re correct! Thank you for all you do for the students of Washington School! We hope you can celebrate on a beach as beautiful as your photo backdrop very soon. You deserve it!

Mark your calendars! On Thursday, May 30 a bunch of hard working, 5th grade entrepreneurs will be hosting a lemonade stand at Washington School. Through Math and Social Studies projects, they’ve been learning about things like entrepreneurship, profit margins, supply & demand, consumers & producers, investors, and the list goes on! These students are ready to apply what they learned with Washington School’s Galaxy lemonade, lemonade that is out of this world 🚀.
Not only are these kids learning about business, they’re also learning about caring for others as ALL of the proceeds from the lemonade stand will benefit St. Jude, the students’ chosen charity. Please come out and support these kids and St. Jude.
You can help us spread the news by liking, commenting, sharing, or tagging someone else! Thanks for helping us with the marketing of our stand!
Thanks also goes to Marlon Eilts COUNTRY, Happy Hedgehog, and Edinger’s Filling Station for investing in the Galaxy Lemonade Stand.
See you Thursday, May 30!

Mrs. Farley's class was all smiles this morning! Thank you for spending some time with us, Mrs. Hunt and Mason!
