The Warriors Softball had a double-header with Metcalf on Saturday Aug. 29th at Champion Fields. The Wildcats won the first game 13-1.
Nora Huncovsky and Kylie Newbury provided the only two hits for Pontiac.
The second game was much better as the Warriors defeated Metcalf 9-5. Leah Crawford, Avery Haan, and Hinleigh Gentry all gathered a hit for Pontiac, as Claire Ahern, Emerson Fenton, Leah Mackinson, and Dallas Ahlers all had a walk. Lily Melvin had two walks. Gentry also scored two runs, while Ahern, Crawford, Haan, Ryder Lee, Fenton, and Melvin added a run each.
Ahern started the game at pitcher for Pontiac. She allowed two hits and five runs (two earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking four.
REGIONALS
The Warriors traveled to Fairbury for the first round of the IESA Regionals. After taking an early lead, Prairie Central scored 14 runs in the second inning, sending them to a 21-6 defeat of our Warriors, ending our season. Pontiac amassed 6 hits: 2 from Laykin Newbury, and one each from Dallas Ahlers, Nora Huncovsky, Harper Davis, and Sophia Forbes. Kylie Newbury, Leah Mackinson, and Forbes each added a walk, while Avery Haan had two walks.
L. Newbury, Huncovsky, K. Newbury, Davis, Mackinson, and Forbes all scored a run for Pontiac as well.
