As we wrap up Unit 1 in Ms. DiNardi's 6th grade math class, students have been exploring surface area through engaging, real-world applications. In one activity, they were shown a picture of a cabinet partially covered in sticky notes and were challenged to figure out how many sticky notes it would take to cover the entire surface. Working in groups, they had thoughtful conversations, showed their work clearly, and explained their reasoning in detail. This activity encouraged collaboration and helped deepen their understanding of surface area.
