Synergy Lab

Extra Credit for Being Responsible

by Mary Loudon

September 08, 2008

The Synergy class is a hands on, practical skills, computer class. 6th grade students will start with Orientation. 7th and 8th grade students will review information from Orientation and take an Orientation Review test. Students will participate in 3-5 modules per year, depending on the 9 week period they are scheduled to have Synergy.

Parent Briefings/Grade Report Extra Credit - Each rotation, including Orientation, has a Parent Briefing that summarizes what is covered during the seven sessions and a printable grade report at the end. Students who want to earn extra credit points may get them by taking the Parent Briefing (5 points) and Grade Report (5 points) home and getting the signature of a parent/guardian. Students must bring the briefing back to school and place it in the Extra Credit bin by the end of the rotation. The points will not be given if a student calls home to have it brought to school or if students do not return it before they start the next module. Employers want responsible workers and this is one way for students to become good potential employees by practicing responsibility. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact Mrs. Loudon.

Another extra credit opportunity is the Hand washing/Dish washing assignment. This must be handed in by the last week of the quarter. It may be worked on in class when students finish early, taken to Study Hall or taken home to work on.
