Special Needs

District # 429' s Special Needs Office: What You Need to Know About It

The District # 429 Special Needs Office is located at the North end of the Pontiac Junior High at 600 Morrow St. This office provides many services for the students and families in the  district. 

Services Include:

Coordinates programs and activities for approximately 300 students who are eligible for Special Education services.  This includes students who, upon recommendation of their IEP Team, are educated in settings outside of the district and students from neighboring districts who are tuitioned into District # 429 for services. 

Conducts Illinois State Board of Education Child Tracking in conjunction  with the Livingston County Special Services Unit

 Is responsible for the annual filing of Special Education Pupil and Personnel Reimbursement claims with Illinois State Board of Education.

Coordinates the Pre-Kindergarten Grant program for approximately 70 children who may be at  risk for academic failure; monitors enrollment for this program.

Develops and monitors the district budget for special education programs.

Coordinates Hospital/Homebound services for eligible students.

Monitors Medicaid Fee for Service /Administrative Outreach documentation, expenditures and reporting to the Illinois Dept. of Public Health.

Coordinates the Annual Pre-School/Kindergarten Screening for 3-5 year old children in the community. 

The Special Needs Office is open daily from 7:30am - 4:30pm. It is located in POntiac Junior High at 600 Morrow Street, Pontiac, IL  61764.
